Harbour

Harbour is a mobile made from stainless steel wire, silk, chiffon and organza. The fabric has been hand dyed in colours inspired by Sydney Harbour. Translucent materials such as silk and chiffon are used to evoke weightlessness and a sense of the poetry of impermanence.

This mobile is inspired by Sydney Harbour. I have spent many hours sailing on, swimming in and walking by the harbour. On the weekend many bright sails jostle for space, and at night the waters capture the coloured lights of the city. We often think of the harbour as blue, but if we look deep into the water it is dark green. Situated in Quay Restaurant, right on the waters edge, Harbour 'talks' to the colourful city lights reflected in the quay, the sailing boats and the ever shifting green water of Sydney Harbour.
