Restoring the Waters

Restoring the Waters was a creek rehabilitation programme in Fairfield, Sydney. Clear Paddock Creek was re-engineered and re-built from an open, concrete storm water drain to a series of channels and stilling ponds, with natural vegetation plantings. Artists were employed by Fairfield Council to engage the local community with the project. I was commissioned in 2001 to design a safety fence for the deep pool at the head of the creek, and to run a series of art workshops with local school students. The project was directed by artists Jennifer Turpin and Michaelie Crawford.
