‘Sky Garden’ is a commission of 5 mobiles each 4m high x 9.5m wide for the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne.
The principal audience for the work is children. My inspiration for the winged creatures in the mobiles came from children playing in nature. I have used bright colours because children respond to colour, recognising anything brightly coloured as specially for them. The lithe figures of winged children float amongst large leaves in the atrium space, the overlapping leaf forms creating the effect of a garden in the sky.
